Our Subject Matter Experts
A team of compliance experts made up of former site managers, trade engineers, and trust leaders who have actually walked the corridors.
Luke Pargeter
Founder & CEO
Luke’s understanding of building services goes back to the 1980s, learning the electrical trade from the ground up. After running a successful facilities management business, he founded iAM Compliant to replace expensive consultants with simple tools built for schools. Today, he helps leaders trim the admin, digitise estates, and make practical progress toward Net Zero.
Andy Ball
Co-Founder & Schools Mentor
As a former School Site Manager, Andy spent years on the frontline before co-founding iAM Compliant. He uses that hands-on experience to help site teams tackle complex health and safety duties, from asbestos registers to legionella testing. Andy believes statutory rules shouldn't stand in the way of running a school, so he works directly with staff to build confidence and reclaim their time.
Jamie Livingston
School Estates & Sustainability Mentor
Jamie started out unlocking school gates as a caretaker before going on to lead trust-wide estate strategies. Having walked in those exact shoes, he cuts through the jargon and green fatigue to make environmental requirements simple. Jamie works alongside school staff to show them how small, practical steps turn into clear Climate Action Plans without feeling overwhelming.
Luke Pargeter
Founder & CEO at iAM Compliant
Modernising the Estate: From Service Engineer to EdTech Visionary
Luke Pargeter’s insight into building services runs deep. Beginning in the 1980s, working weekends and school holidays at his father’s side, learning the electrical trade from the ground up. That hard-won foundation, built on by over four decades of experience, gives him an unrivalled grasp of how estates really function.
In 2007, Luke founded his own facilities management firm, trusted by some of the UK’s largest landowners and managing agents, as well as expanding operations as far as Dubai. Now, he channels that expertise entirely into the education sector.
Having lived and breathed the industry for decades, Luke noticed a real challenge: schools were being forced to use overly complex corporate tools or pay for expensive external consultants for tasks they could easily manage themselves. In 2014, he set out to disrupt the very industry he came from, founding iAM Compliant to make estates simple for schools.
Strategising for the Future of School Estates
Luke’s experience spans both technical engineering and high-level estates management strategy. He works closely with both schools and MATs to make compliance and estate management simpler, clearer, and easier to manage day-to-day. His work focuses on helping schools with:
- Estate Digitalisation: Using smarter digital tools to manage estates more effectively
- Statutory Compliance & Reporting: Keeping on top of their statutory compliance without all that admin headache
- Strategic Risk Management: Moving away from reactive firefighting and instead towards long-term planning and oversight.
By drawing on his years of hands-on sector experience, Luke focuses on making complex requirements easier to understand and helping schools manage compliance with greater clarity and independence rather than relying on external consultants.
His Mission: Sustainability Through Smarter Data
Luke is a strong advocate for the role school estates play in the UK’s Net Zero journey. He understands that many school buildings are ageing, with some over a century old, and they’re responsible for a significant share of the public sector’s carbon footprint.
"The school estate isn't just bricks and mortar; it is a vital tool for pupil attainment. By making the estate a priority, we aren't just saving money, we're creating a better future for the next generation."
Through iAM Sustainable, Luke has introduced tools such as the CAP builder and carbon emission trackers (CO2e), proving that sustainability is the most effective route to a smarter school budget. He’s passionate about giving site managers the recognition they deserve, using data to highlight their impact and really show the value of a well-managed estate.
A Philosophy of Empowerment
Luke believes that with a point in the right direction, schools can effectively manage their own estates. He’s frustrated by a ‘blame culture’ and fear-based outsourcing, instead promoting a culture of competency rather than dependency.
His core philosophy is built on transparency and cost-effectiveness. While he dreams of a world where every school has access to these tools for free, he takes immense pride in ensuring iAM remains the most cost-effective compliance and training solution in the world. As he puts it:
"We’re in the trenches with you, providing the tools and definitions, right down to the pictures of what 'good' looks like, so you can take control."
Award-Winning Leadership
Under Luke’s leadership, iAM Compliant has become a multi-award-winning platform, notably winning the BETT Award 2023 for Management & Leadership Solution and being named Estates Education Supplier of the Year, among other prestigious awards. He remains a key figure in the "Thought Leadership" space, constantly pushing for the education sector to be seen as a priority for government investment and technological advancement.
Want Luke’s Strategic Brain in Your School or MAT?
Luke’s vision was to take the high-level insights of an expensive FM consultant and build them directly into a platform that any school can afford.
Every strategic workflow, every Net Zero tracking tool, and every automated compliance report within iAM Compliant was designed by Luke to mirror his decades of experience as a business owner and engineer.
If you want an estate management system that offers the strategic oversight of a CEO and the technical accuracy of an engineer, it’s time to explore iAM Compliant.

Bridging the Gap: From Site Manager to Compliance Expert
Since 2009, Andy Ball has been a fixture in the UK education sector, specialising in facilities management and estates management strategy. However, Andy's authority doesn't just come from a textbook; it comes from the frontline. As a former School Site Manager, he possesses a rare, empathetic understanding of the real-world operational headaches that site teams face every day.
Andy acts as a practical, trusted guide to schools and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), ensuring that statutory obligations never become an operational blocker. Instead, he helps schools view compliance as a vital framework that allows them to function safely and effectively.
Simplifying Specialist Technical Compliance
Andy's core expertise lies in demystifying the most complex areas of school health and safety, including:
- Specialist Technical Compliance: Directing schools through the nuances of asbestos management, legionella testing, radon, COSHH, and PAT testing.
- Operational Safety: Developing robust risk assessments and accessibility strategies.
- Competency Building: Helping staff understand the difference between DfE guidance and legislation.
Unlike distant consultants, Andy's role is defined by direct engagement. Whether he's hosting a free CPD webinar, delivering a one-to-one onboarding session, or visiting a school in person to "sort things out," he remains connected to the latest challenges facing the sector.
His Mission: Reclaiming the Site Manager's Time
A common industry pain point is the 'Time Enemy.' Andy argues that time is only an enemy when tasks are not correctly prioritised.
"School health and safety isn't there to stop you doing things; it's there to allow you to do them safely."
By debunking the myth that compliance is merely 'bureaucratic red tape', Andy helps site teams focus on what matters most. He recognises that a lack of knowledge leads to a lack of confidence, often causing staff to avoid complex tasks like boiler maintenance or keeping asbestos registers. To solve this, Andy advocates for a 'learning' culture over a 'blame' culture, empowering staff through iAM Compliant's built-in 'how-to guides' to build long-term competency.
A Philosophy of Accessibility
Andy's a firm believer that school compliance should be easy and accessible to everyone, regardless of their technical background. As a Co-Founder of iAM Compliant, he ensured the platform was designed to be time-efficient and intuitive, solving the complexity headache for school leaders.
His core philosophy is simple: "Ignorance isn't not knowing; it's not asking." He encourages a culture in which staff feel supported in their compliance responsibilities, viewing investment in staff CPD as the most effective route to a smarter, long-term budget.
Keynote Speaker & Sector Leader
A recognised voice in education, Andy was a Keynote Speaker at the Bett Awards 2022 and frequently presents at TNT events, Federations, and MAT conferences. His sessions are known for being fun, relaxed, and accessible, intentionally breaking the stereotype of the rigid health and safety inspector to make compliance feel achievable for all.
Want Andy's Brain in Your School or MAT?
Andy can't be in every school at once, but his brain is already there.
Every "how-to" guide, every automated reminder, and every prioritisation tool within iAM Compliant was built to mirror Andy's expertise as an experienced site manager.
It's a platform designed by a team who have actually walked the corridors, handled the audits, and felt the pressure of a 'to-do' list that never ends.
If you want a compliance system that thinks like an expert site manager and supports like an all-knowing mentor, it's time to explore iAM Compliant.

Jamie Livingston
School Estates & Sustainability Mentor at iAM Compliant
School Caretaker to Trusted Estates & Sustainability Mentor. Meet Jamie Livingston: Bringing Frontline Experience to Your Sustainability Strategy.
Jamie Livingston's career in education didn't begin in a boardroom or a consultant's office. It began as a school caretaker, unlocking gates, fixing faults, and keeping the site running safely. Over time, he moved through operational roles and went on to lead estates and sustainability strategy at a trust level. He's lived the reality of the job, with all its pressures, priorities and the constant balancing act.
Today, as School Estates & Sustainability Mentor at iAM Compliant, Jamie helps schools and MATs make sense of complex requirements. He translates policy into practical action, cutting through jargon and "green fatigue". Because he's done the role himself, he knows what works, what doesn't and what actually makes a difference. His focus is simple: help schools take control, build confidence, and feel proud of the progress they're already making.
His Mantra: "You're already doing it; let's evidence it."
Jamie's a firm believer that schools and MATs shouldn't feel overwhelmed by the more recent mandates because, in his experience, most of them are already taking positive steps toward sustainability. Whether it is recycling programmes, student eco-committees, or switching to LED lighting, Jamie helps schools identify these "low-hanging fruits" and provides the framework to prove their impact. By formalising what they're already doing, he helps schools celebrate their successes rather than fearing the unknown.
Bespoke Support: Understanding Every School's Story
Jamie doesn't believe in the one-size-fits-all advice. Every school has its own pressures, culture, and way of working. He adapts his approach to fit the real people in front of him.
On one visit to a London MAT, the site team spoke several different first languages. Communication could have easily broken down. Instead, Jamie adjusted his delivery in real time, simplifying concepts and working with the team to find common ground. By the end of the session, every staff member understood their role and what to do next.
This is the sort of thing that sets Jamie apart. He doesn't just deliver theory and leave. He works alongside schools, making sure the guidance makes sense, feels achievable, and leads to real progress.
Translating Jargon into Action
A common hurdle Jamie encounters is the "knowledge gap" around environmental requirements. Terms like Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions or SECR reporting can feel like an entirely new language. One that school leaders are expected to understand quickly. Jamie cuts through that complexity, translating technical jargon into clear, practical steps. He shows schools what it means for their site and what to do next. This approach is built directly into the iAM Sustainable platform, making Jamie's guidance available to thousands of schools and MATS.
Within the system, a Climate Action Plan is no longer a scary piece of bureaucracy; it's a live, interactive roadmap that identifies gaps and prioritises the most impactful next steps.
Building a Culture, Not Just Ticking Boxes
This human connection is what Jamie values most. He's just as happy chatting with a site team over a brew and a biscuit as presenting to a board of directors. He knows building a culture of sustainability means winning hearts and minds, not ticking boxes. That practical insight shapes every corner of the iAM Sustainable platform. Jamie was brought in for his deep, real-world knowledge and helped design the tool from the ground up. The result is simple: every newly appointed sustainability lead has an expert mentor in their pocket.
Want Jamie's Brain in Your School or MAT?
If you're looking for a sustainability partner who prioritises clarity over complexity and human connection over clunky spreadsheets, Jamie's ready to guide you. His brain is effectively built into the iAM Sustainable platform: from the intuitive Climate Action Plan builder to the bite-sized, IOSH-approved training modules, the entire system is designed to work the way a real school works.

What Schools & Trusts say about Jamie:
"The 1:1 work with Jamie has been brilliant. It is really obvious that he has worked in a school before. He offers good insights and support which is refreshing to see. In the past, we have worked with companies that can feel quite corporate and impersonal. Here, we can speak straight away to an expert who understands our setting."
- Guy Nelson, Trust Central Officer, Leo Academy Trust, February 2025
"The onboarding is something I speak about passionately. The portal is amazing; I have never seen anything like it. It tracks each task and keeps everything in one traceable place. This is then complemented by the superhuman knowledge and commitment of Jamie Livingston, who guided and supported. It's a rarity that makes the process surprisingly painless."
- Sam Luker, Chief Operating Officer, Trinitas Academy Trust, February 2026

"The main benefit is that everything is in one place and easily accessible. I also really like the document vault that lets you keep all the reports and other things like O&M manuals, electrical drawings et cetera in one place. Trying to find things in premises managers filing cabinets is a nightmare!"
Nigel Brunning
CFO @ South East Essex Academy Trust
"Not every school has a compliance manager or an expert in facilities. IAM compliant provides that. The videos are so helpful, they can take you from not knowing how to take water temperatures to how to take water temperatures very, very quickly.
It's so easy to look at IAM compliant and work out where you're at and whether your policies are compliant and whether you're actually in compliance on a day -to -day basis.
It is a great system for that."
John Andrews
School Business Manager @ St John’s Primary School
"The iAM training platform is amazing, the training is built to IOSH standards and so easy to navigate. The training courses are fun and easy to follow, they deliver the legislation and understanding of each subject in an easy language that delivers great results for the user. The range of courses is brilliant with so many areas covered and still improving. I would recommend this training platform as a great tool to use for the development of your employees."
Claire Sheldon
Health and Safety Training Manager @ Ormiston Academies Trust
"After years of using the Council's compliance package, new School Site Manager, Paul Williams, pitched to his senior leadership team the idea of bringing this responsibility in-house. In doing so, they achieved some incredible results through using a combination of team upskilling, an iAM Compliant account, and employing a private Facilities Management service for contractor tasks."
