Who is this course for

What is a mental health crisis? This course explores how staff can recognise signs of crisis, respond calmly in the moment, and follow safeguarding reporting and recovery procedures afterwards. You’ll look at practical ways to reduce distress and help pupils regain a sense of safety. Also, you’ll learn when to involve safeguarding leads, families, and external services, and how reflection and follow-up can help prevent future crises.

Your school may not have a mental health crisis team, but everyone should know how to respond to a mental health crisis. This course is designed for school staff who may need to respond to a pupil experiencing acute emotional distress.
