The Diary of a School Business Manager - Part 1

Posted by iAM Compliant

Meet Clare the School Business Manager. Like all school leaders, she's got a lot on her plate and could really do with a solution to help her juggle all the tasks and responsibilities for managing her school's compliance. Thankfully a strange start to her day could provide all the answers she's been looking for... Read her series of diary entries and watch how her crazy day unfolds.

Dear diary;

It’s been a weird day. It started, as usual, with the worst sound in the world. My alarm clock. Annoyingly, I hit that snooze button a couple of times too many again and had to dash to school. Why am I always in a rush lately?

I’ve got soooo many tasks on my to-do list. Seriously. Just like every day, I suppose, but the list seems to get bigger. Doesn’t help that the school is literally falling apart around me.

But just when I was at my lowest, I noticed something. A weird old lamp was on my desk (I’m pretty certain it wasn’t there yesterday). But it was all dusty, so I did what anyone would do, even if it is a bit cliché. I gave it a rub.

And you’ll never guess what happened next?

A Genie popped out. An actual Genie, floating around, goatee beard, the works. No joke. I thought those things only existed in fairytales!

I must admit, I was skeptical. I thought it was some kinda prank by the kids or the science faculty team. You know what those guys are like. And so, I was probably a little short with the guy from the lamp. After all, I’ve got so much to be getting on with and I don’t have time for distractions. Even as I spoke to the Genie, little Billy from class 3D needed a plaster putting on a scraped knee, and you just know there will be paperwork for that job too, somewhere.

But wait! Genie was actually pretty helpful. They showed me this new system, called the iAM Compliant Estates Management tool. And it’s got a bunch of features that seem like they will save me loads of precious time. For example, it creates automated deadlines so I’ll never miss a task deadline. Genie reckons it’ll help me manage the school estate and keep on top of my statutory compliance because everything is in one central place, so I won’t have to search multiple systems for different files.

And, crucially, it's really easy to set up; it’s cloud-based and intuitive. Looks promising, actually. There’s no lengthy onboarding and I can upload all my data easily and quickly. Think of all that lovely time I’m gonna save! It can do loads more besides, so I’m going to take a deeper look. Will report back later.
