PPE Essentials - Landing Pages Images2

PPE Essentials

This course will be useful to anyone who needs to wear any form of protective gear in the workplace. This might mean construction workers or people who work in factories or in places where there may be hazards. It’s unlikely to be much use if you’re a desk jockey, but it’s handy stuff to know regardless. PPE is the last line of defence against an injury. You have no excuse NOT to wear it, but why wouldn’t you want to keep yourself safe anyway?

What you will learn

Can you tell a lanyard from a fall arrest? We’ve all got various experiences with PPE, from simply wearing goggles in science class to donning a hard hat on a building site. It all depends on our role in the workplace, but it’s important to understand. This course will help you identify the different types of PPE and recognise what does and doesn’t constitute it. The course will also describe the consequences of not wearing PPE, list the duties of employers and employees with regards to it, and explain PPE legislation so you can understand its importance.

About this course

PPE is the shorthand way of saying personal protective equipment. That means the safety equipment you might use at work, like hard hats, those luminous wellies, and even ear plugs.

It’s not just designed to make you look cool. Or at all, for that matter. It’s there to keep you safe around the workplace. This course has been designed to tell you all about it, as well as helping you stay compliant with current health and safety regulations. All pretty important stuff, we think you’ll agree.

Engaging the learner

When considering how best to represent PPE, our thoughts immediately went to the king of PPE, one of those superheroes we’re so fond of, iAM Man! He’s literally wrapped in the stuff. Of course, in real life, it’s less shiny, but it’s usually pretty high-vis. Using characters that people like puts learners at ease, and lets us inject an otherwise dry H&S subject with some much needed fun. And because it’s an IOSH approved course, you know it’s good!

With a combination of fantastic animation, interactive sections where the learner can slow down to take things at their own pace, and a large bank or rotating questions, learners are engaged throughout. The course also contains knowledge checks, including interactive drag and drop sections. These help with knowledge retention and increase pass rates, because learners must actually understand the subject, rather than simply answering through trial and error.

Piece of mind with testing

Peace of mind with testing

This course also has an assessment at the end which allows learners to test their understanding and helps businesses demonstrate a level of competence in the topic.

With a bank of questions learners will get randomised assessments which means if people do fail the assessment, they aren't faced with the same quiz again; after all you want to test learners knowledge and not their ability to remember the right button to press second time around.

Everyone has the right to learn and learner need can vary demanding on environment or disabilities. This course comes with transcripts so people have text options for an media, subtitles for all videos and is screen reader friendly with alternative text.

We take a number of steps to ensure visuals and navigation is easy for your people.
